A Fossil Activity for Kids

Fossil Fun
Have you ever wanted to dig for dinosaurs? Here’s your chance to become a paleontologist. Paleontologists study fossils to learn about ancient life forms. Today you are going to create your own fossils!
Materials:
1 cup flour
1 cup used coffee grounds
½ cup salt
½ cup water
Bowl
Spoon
Cookie Sheet
Wax Paper
Shells, leaves, sticks, dinosaur or other animal figurines

Directions:  Mix the flour, coffee grounds and salt together. Slowly add the water while mixing. The dough should not be sticky. Put a piece of wax paper on the cookie sheet. Place a spoonful of the fossil mix on the wax paper and push into a thick pancake shape. Press an object into the fossil mix. Let it dry for a few hours or overnight. Repeat with the rest of the mix. Explore your fossils!
